Fashion comes and goes. From bellbottoms to skinny jeans, every decade seems to have its own distinct style. But there’s a new trend from this year that’s causing a lot of alarm: fashion braces. What are fashion braces, you ask? Keep reading to find out.Get more news about Fashion Dental, you can vist our website!

At first mention, they don’t sound that bad. Braces that are fashionable? But unfortunately, that’s not quite what they are. Fashion braces are braces installed by unlicensed, untrained individuals to give the wearer the look and feel of braces - but for fashion purposes only. These so-called braces are popular because of their fun colors, and because they’re relatively affordable, ranging in the $300 to $400 dollar area. This makes them more appealing to young people who think they not only look cool, but they may even straighten the teeth in the process.

We probably don’t need to stress how dangerous this trend can be, however here are just a few reasons why fashion braces are a very, very bad idea.

    THEY CAN CAUSE INFECTION
Using braces that are applied in unsanitary conditions can cause gum and tooth infections that if left untreated can cause serious problems. Worse yet, if you’re not under treatment by a trained dental professional, that infection could get a lot worse before you even realize it’s a problem.

    THEY CAN WORSEN YOUR BITE
Braces are supposed to correct a bad bite, not make it worse, but fashion braces are more likely to make your bite worse than better. This can cause jaw problems, tooth grinding, loose teeth, and even lost teeth. Worse yet, you may not even need braces and still make your bite worse.

    THEY CAN MAKE CAVITIES WORSE
Say you already have a cavity and don’t know it, but then cover it up with a bracket. That cavity will then be trapped under glue, left to its own devices to get worse. Definitely not what you signed up for when you got your fashion braces.
