Steam Solenoid Valve operation

  • The function of Steam Solenoid Valve.

Steam Solenoid Valve is usually 2/2 way, with 2 entrances and exits, and 2 open or closed positions. This function can be normally closed (most commonly used) or normally open.

2/2 way normally closed means that fail-safe shutdown requires power to be turned on.

2/2 way normally open means that fail-safe opening requires power to shut down.

      Operation of Steam Solenoid Valve.

The operation of the Steam Solenoid Valve can be in one of two ways:

Direct-acting steam valve direct action-the valve is operated directly by the coil. These operations range from zero pressure to maximum design pressure, usually 0 to 10 bar.

is sometimes called auxiliary poppet valve, recoil pilot valve, or zero-rated valve.

Pilot Auxiliary Solenoid Valve Pilot Auxiliary-The valve is operated indirectly from the coil through the internal pilot. These operations have a pressure difference, that is, the minimum pressure difference between the inlet and outlet pressure is usually 0.5 Bar 7 psi or 1 bar 14.7 psi.

is sometimes referred to as pilot-operated, servo-assisted, and floating piston valves.
