Chemical invasion
If chemicals enter the environment or container of the weighing transducer, they can cause the same damage as water. However, they will corrode the weighing transducer more severely and damage its components and structure.
Ensure that chemicals are stored safely away from the weighing area, and ensure that nothing being weighed leaks, such as trucks loaded with chemicals or other liquids.
Electrical damage
Lightning strikes and power surges can severely damage the weighing transducer and make it impossible to operate.
Both grounding and shielding can reduce the risk of electrical damage to weighing transducer components. A properly installed truck scale on the ground protects against major lightning strikes what can be done. Units on the ground are more vulnerable to attack.
For non-lightning-related damage, make sure that the electrical connection that supplies power to the weighing area is appropriately rated and does not exceed its capacity. Excessive power entering the underestimated area can cause dangerous surges.
