Calibration procedure for weighing transducer
Before calibrating the weighing transducer, check the mechanical system and check the installation of the weighing transducer for the following items: Check the load cell cable, and coil and protect any excess parts. The load should be evenly distributed among the load cells of the load cell device. If they differ by more than 10%, the load should be rebalanced and adjusted with shims. When calibrating, installing, or removing batteries, the container should be lifted without unloading or overloading other batteries. The design of the system should provide the functions of jacking and horizontal moving units. Before completing all the structures and welding, a virtual load cell should be used instead of an operable load cell. The calibration of the container requires the use of a hanger or shelf to support the calibration weight. For ASME vessels, they must be added when the vessel is manufactured. The self-weight is usually used to calibrate the accuracy to 0.25% or higher of full scale. This is the only calibration method approved by weights and measurement agencies. All load cell calibration experiments start with zeroing the system:
During the self-weight calibration process, standard weights are used to load the ship to an average of 10% of the effective load capacity. Record the weight indication and remove the weight. Next, add the treatment material to the container until the weight indicator shows the same weight (10%) as the calibration weight. Now, load the calibration weight onto the container again and record the reading (now about 20%). Repeat these steps until you reach 100% capacity.
Real-time weight calibration is a novel and fast method that uses a pre-weighed person instead of calibrating the weight. This step is the same as the load calibration. If there is a risk of injury, this method should not be used.
