Pivot is utilizing Fazua’s Ride 60 drive unit in the Shuttle SL. As the name suggests, the motor produces 60-newton meters of torque and up to 450 watts of power. Its Energy 430 battery has 430 watt-hours of capacity. Fazua claims that the motor weighs just 4.32 pounds (1.96 Kg) while the battery comes in at 4.9 pounds (2.2 Kg). Unlike the Fazua Ride 50 drive unit, this motor and battery are not removable. Fazua’s LED hub shows vital stats such as battery level and assist mode level. It also pops up revealing a USB-C port to charge things such as smartphones or GPS units. There is also a walk mode for off-the-bike assist. Fazua offers an app that allows for fully customizable assist modes too. The Shuttle SL features 132mm of dw-link suspension travel and a full carbon frame. Geometry is trail focused and adjustable via an upper link and seatstay pivot flip-chip. The head angle ranges from 65-65.5 degrees while the seat tube angle is 76-76.5 degrees in small through large while the XL features a steeper one at 76.8 in low and 77.2 in high. Reach for a size large in low is a roomy but not extreme 478mm. Chainstay lengths are frame size specific. In the low setting small and medium have 432mm chainstays, 434mm in size large, and 438mm in size extra large.
Pivot will offer the Shuttle SL in four builds ranging in price from $8,299 for a Ride SLX/XT build with 150mm travel Fox 36 fork and Float X shock to $11,999 for the Team WC model with 140mm travel Fox 34 fork, DPS shock, and XTR drivetrain. They are available in Europe now but not until September in North America. On paper, this bike looks really good. Compared to Trek’s new Fuel EX-e that really impressed us, the Shuttle SL is lighter, has more power, and has a bigger battery. We really look forward to riding this one.
