More than a dozen new and returning villagers and NPCs were revealed during Nintendo's Animal Crossing Direct livestream, including those who will be joining New Horizons.
Katrina is a new NPC to Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Katrina has appeared in every Animal Crossing game to date, serving as a fortune teller.
The GameCube version of Animal Crossing gave her a minor role, but she would go on to make fortunes that came true and provide fortune cookies to lucky players in later versions of the game. She also had the ability to transport players to the Star Matrix, but Nintendo did not reveal the full extent of her abilities in New Horizons.
Kapp'n is a new NPC to the ACNH.
As his name implies, Kapp'n is the captain of his own ship, which he uses to ferry players between islands. However, Kapp'n is not a reskin of the Dodo Airlines NPCs (who retain their position on the island and their existing services), but rather transports players to Animal Crossing Mystery Islands located in different hemispheres with different plant life and biomes, as opposed to the original Animal Crossing.
The addition of a new NPC to ACNH is Harriet. Harriet is a pink poodle hairdresser who provides players with new hairstyles, which was another feature that had been requested.
However, despite the fact that New Horizons introduced many more customization options than previous games, Animal Crossing hairstyles have always been severely lacking and restricted. With Harriet's return, players will be able to experiment with different looks and put their ACNH Bells to good use.
- In the Animal Crossing games, Tortimer has had a long and successful career, previously serving as mayor of most towns until players assumed control of the position in Animal Crossing: New Leaf
- Despite some fans' concerns that Tortimer had met his end, Tortimer will be returning to ACNH to assist with item storage in the near future
- Storage is a significant issue for many players who have been playing since the beginning and are unable to organize or store all of their furniture, so it is fantastic that this will be addressed in version 2

Here’s all about the ACNH Tomato Festival event 2022
Roswell is a new villager to the ACNH.
Roswell also made an appearance in Dbutsu no Mori e+, where he was known as Pironkon, and was an exclusive e-Reader character. His design is distinct, but not particularly appealing, thanks to his sandy color palette and strange eyes. Roswell has appeared in several previous titles as a Lazy Villager. Even though some ACNH fans may find his bizarre markings and patterns endearing, others are unlikely to be willing to give up their limited island space for him. Despite his odd markings and patterns, some ACNH fans may find him endearing.
Frett Frett is a Dog Villager who was previously known as Champagne and who appeared in Dbutsu no Mori e+. He is a new villager to ACNH.
This Dog Villager has a design that is reminiscent of a father, as well as two eyes that are set too far apart. In previous games, he possessed the personality trait of a grump. It is currently unknown whether Frett's interior design will be carried over from previous games.
With the addition of Azalea, the ACNH has gained another new villager. Azalea's design is somewhat reminiscent of Meringue, with white markings that appear to resemble frosting and her neon blue color palette.
Azalea was also known by the name Petunia in her Dbutsu no Mori e+ appearance, which was the final time she appeared in the franchise. It has been established that Azalea has the Snooty personality type in previous appearances, though this could change in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
