Full Threaded Stud threads are made in one of two processes. Roll the threads of the bolts or cut them. This newsletter will describe each process, as well as its advantages and disadvantages.
Rolling thread
This thread is made by a forming process, where the thread is produced when the fastener material passes through a set of hardened metal molds under high pressure. The mold penetrates the smooth non-threaded material to form a finished thread with perfect thread root and thread crest. H
advantage
• More economical processes because they are less labor intensive.
• By deforming and cold working the bolts during the rolling process, the bolts become stronger (without thread tears and cracks)-and therefore more elastic.
• Rolled threads are smoother.
Cutting thread
The cutting thread is made by actually cutting or machining into a round bar and removing material from a large part to form the roots and peaks of the thread.
Stud Manufacturer introduces you the shortcomings of the product
• Cutting will leave small cracks in the thread, which will spread over time and affect the stability and life of the thread.
advantage
• Almost all specifications can be met.
• Bolts can be manufactured according to more specific size and size requirements, and there are almost no restrictions on their diameter and thread length.
• It is possible to manufacture bolts with a much larger diameter than the rolling thread process.
• Simple setting is very suitable for small batch operation
