The shear beam load cell is ideal for measuring switching force or driving force. They are screwed firmly to the application on one side of the beam, and the force is applied as vertically as possible on the other side. The force is measured using the double rod measurement principle. Therefore, these force sensors are largely insensitive to the displacement introduced by the vertical force.
We rely on the proven strain gauge technology, which can accurately define the relative change in the resistance of the strain gauge used when a force is applied to the measuring element and the shape changes. Due to the Wheatstone bridge circuit, temperature effects and lateral forces are optimally suppressed. The shear beam load cell is suitable for the introduction of tensile and compressive forces, but it is usually only calibrated for the force (pressure) in one direction. This means that if curved beams are calibrated for compression, they will also react to tension, but will not output any precise measurements.
