Determining the expected accuracy of the shear beam load cell requires some consideration, and many factors need to be considered. The %RO accuracy index of the load cell is a good starting point, but various other factors are also important, such as:
What indicator is being used?
How does this indicator interface with other control systems in the factory?
In what environment and how is the shear beam load cell installed?
The %RO accuracy specification of shear beam load cell, what does this mean?
Most shear beam load cell data tables will specify %RO, but what is this?
Answer: %RO = percentage of rated output.
For example: if the error of a 1000 kg load cell is ±0.5% RO, it means that the best resolution of the shear beam load cell is ±5Kg.
Therefore, a panel meter configured to read the full-scale range (rated output) of 1000 kg on the display will accurately read the full scale, but the last digit may be meaningless. This is because if the rated RO of the load cell is indeed ±0.5%, the display screen may fluctuate 5kg up to and down, and it is still within the specification range.
Many of our shear beam load cells are rated at 0.03%, so for a 1000 kg load cell, its value is 0.3 kg. However, in the real world, the accuracy of the load cell system is much lower, because the %RO is measured under ideal conditions and stable temperature using an accurate shear beam load cell activation voltage and connected to a high-resolution Rate indicator.
