How to Quickly Climb the League of Legends Rank Ladder

  • You may find yourself thinking things like this when you finish up champ select, unsure of how you're gonna make it out of this game alive. Well fear no more! If you’re looking for a way to improve in your own ranked play, here are some pointers from a Grandmaster that can help you win, prevent tilt and reach gold.

    Know the LoL Champions

This may seem obvious, but we cannot stress how important it is to know the champions. As of August 2020, there are 150 champions, and knowing their abilities can help you counter your opponents’ picks.

If you’re not able to name all five abilities of the champions’, then there’s an issue. Before you even jump into ranked matches, you need to learn the champions’ abilities, no questions asked.

Riot routinely pushes out new champions, so each time one emerges, you need to set some time to the side and learn it.

    Pick Your Favorite Champion

As long as you specialize at playing a certain champion in LoL Account , then your chances of quickly climbing the rankings are high. Not only will you be able to focus on being in the right place at the right time, but you can also help set your team up for victory.

Going from unlocking a new champion to consistently “maining” one is not an easy thing to do. It will not happen overnight. It is going to take a lot of time, but that is okay. Just make sure that with other champions you might focus on, you must learn how to synergize best and worst with him/her. More importantly, do not forget to learn the right mechanics to employ the character.

    Watch other Players

While we tell fellow gamers to watch their own gameplay and learn from their mistakes, on the same note, we tell them to watch other players. We recommend finding a high ranked person who plays your favorite champion and watch them – see how they play. By doing this, you will learn a lot, and it’s even better when they explain their moves to their viewers.

If You're Tilted, Take a Break

We all get tilted, it happens, and it's natural. What's not natural is spam clicking that 'Play Again' button because "they didn't deserve to win" or "they got camped for" or "my team is awful and I need to prove I'm a good player." Slow down, take your hands off your keyboard, take a deep breath, and walk away. Once you do, a lot of the frustrations you're feeling will dissipate and you'll realize that it's not worth getting worked up over something so small. If you don't, or you convince yourself you just need that one win to stop playing, I guarantee you you'll match history will look a lot like this:

Why did I play Illaoi support and what the hell is that build? Why did I first time Vel'Koz in ranked? Why am I playing jungle? Because my judgment, and my ability to play the game, was severely hindered because I was tilted. If I had taken my own advice, and simply took a break, a lot of that red would've turned green and I might just be in Diamond 3. Learn from me and take a breather.

    Use Practice Tool

Something else you can do before you get into game is take advantage of one of the most useful tools at your disposal: Practice Tool. It's the perfect place to go to practice flashes, champion combos (this is especially useful if you plan on being an OTP), farming minions, tricky warding spots, and get a feel for how different champions work. Below are the two most notoriously difficult warding spots, I highly recommend practicing them.

    Wave management is king

Minions play a huge role in League of Legends, especially at higher Elo. You can positively lord your increased knowledge of minion wave mechanics against people who don’t understand the intricacies.
