Seven points higher than Madden's grade for Week 9 of 82

  • Madden has been a key element in Blue River's return to the playoffs and the team's Monday evening win of 77-63 at Wapahani (4-2) was a clear demonstration of her importance. She scored 27 points Mut 22 coins. 12 of them in the 4th quarter, which was the key to stopping the Raiders coming back efforts and was dominant throughout the game at both ends.

Madden is expected to perform more during the season. Her role of primarily being an inside player has been expanded as she's allowed to, at times, play out on the perimeter as well and take on more shooting and playmaking.

Blue River's guards aren't as experienced as in previous years so when teams are playing the press defense, as Wapahani did, the 6-foot-1 Madden assists in moving the ball up when the point guard is in a position to be trapped.

The halfcourt offense also runs through Madden. Bales aim to get the ball to her in the low area so she can either score or kick-out shooters after the defense has collapsed. Madden is doing a lot of quick passes due to this which has produced the highest career average of 2.5 assists for each game thus far.

"I appreciate (the extra obligation)," Madden said. "I know that at times I'm adept at getting the team up and running and I think that when we achieve a quick start, and me being out there buy mut coins, that can give us more motivation."
