In many ways, these are specialized beam weighing transducers

  • A tension weighing transducer is designed to be suitable for applications involving hanging heavy objects. Therefore, they usually need to be in line with the subordinate object, usually integrated into the supporting device. The "S" or "Z" shape of these load cells is precisely for this requirement. Both upper and lower limbs ensure that the mounting holes are in line with the central axis.

In many ways, these are specialized beam weighing transducers. The function of the center rod is the same as that of the beam load cell, and the position of the strain gauge can detect bending or shear strain. The difference is that the cantilever has no fixed end abutment. Using a traditional beam load cell, one end is usually fixed on the base, and the other "free" end introduces a load, much like a diving board. In the S-type tension sensor, both ends are not fixed, but one end is connected to the upper device through the upper arm, and the other end is connected to the lower device through the lower arm.

When the weighing transducer is under tension, one side of the center rod will pull up, and the other end of the center rod will pull down by the same amount. The difference across the center rod causes deformation, which is detected by the strain gauge.
